Can I set addition fields on a task created from a workflow without apex code?

Question

I am working with an opportunity in which I need different users to perform steps.  Right now I have a Workflow to create a task.  I would like the task to have custom fields populated on the task.  Is there a better way to create the task?  Is there a way without apex code to set the fields? Thanks for your help!
