Quote Approval Process affecting page layout?

I'm in a bit of a pickle - I have created a quote approval process, but for some reason once the quote is approved it changes the page layout (i.e. the buttons I have set to show on the lightning page to create pdf, etc disappear for the user).  I can still see the buttons but the user cannot.

    In general, approval processes can't affect what page layout the user is seeing. However, the buttons might be hidden due to conditional visibility on your lightning record page, or maybe just because the record is locked due to the approval process.

     

    Do you keep the record locked after the approval process is complete?
