Can you edit the fields in the "Account Hierarchy" page?

Question

My users would like to be able to see what the last activity is for all of the subsidary accounts when looking at the parent account. However, I don't want to add all subsidiary's as partners, because we want to leave that section to represent the true partners. Is there any way to add the "Last Activity" field to the page you see when you click "View Hierarchy"? The screenshot below is an example of what I would like in an ideal world.

If this isn't possible through out-of-the-box configuration, is it something I can achieve through visualforce?

it is not customizable. overriding through visualforce is not advisable.  you will loose lot of native account related functionality.
