receiving the below error while assigning permissions to a custom object
permission create campaign history depends on permission(s) read campaigns
please advice

As per the Error message, to give access to child objects of Campaign , you should at least have Read access to Campaign object.
So If the profile doesn't have Read access to Campaign then the error will be displayed. Try giving Read access on Campaign object.
