We are working on implementing State and Country picklists in our org which has address info for most countries. We have lots of records where the address is quite long, so the state field has been populated with additional address information, like maybe a region, the CEDEX code etc. We don't want to lose this info, as obviously it forms part of the address, but I cannot add regions for every single country on our database.

How do orgs with state and country picklists handle longer address fields?  Do you have additional fields?  I'm trying to tidy up the data before we switch anything but I could do with some tips.

Many thanks.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your reply.

We are looking at using dependent picklists so we plan to have the standard SF fields:

    Street

    City

    State/Province/County

    Postcode

    Country

With State/Province/County dependent upon the country selected.

My worry is that a lot of our accounts don't follow the US based address structure, and the currently free text State/Province/County field is used to add some of the extra info (such as non standard region, name of the island, CEDEX code etc).  We still need to capture this but I don't know how we can do it with State and County picklists.

I was wondering how other people managed it.
