Different licence types for different users?

Do all your SF licences have to be of the same edition? It has been suggested that we have those users withe more basic SF needs on Professional, with the rest, who use more of the features, on Enterprise.

 

Has anyone successfully negotiated this?

    You cannot mix Enterprise Edition with Professional Edition.

     

    You can however mix standard licences with platform licences - like this for example

     

    Enterprise Edition Licence and Force.com subscription Licence

     

    Force.com licence gives you read access to Account / Contacts but not Opportunity. So depending on your needs and actual requirements, this may or may not be an option.
