How do I run a data export on Asset with a limit by Product Family?

I need to run an Asset extract using the data loader but wish to limit it by particular product families.  I can't see this option in the extract, how can I best achieve this?

    Hi Sara,

     

    How many assets you wants to export?If it is less in number than create  report with filter and export report in csv
