Can anyone confirm this please;p or if there is an update, direct me to the documentation that shows when it was? I can't find anything either and can see why our security team are a bit unconfortable about it.

Hi Sara,
Your security team might be referring to the old salesforce for outlook app. Here's how they can setup the Integration with Outlook:
