How do I create a formula for average age?

I know that Average Age is something that can be calculated for you in Salesforce.com for Opportunities but I need to create a formlua for the average age in a Lead. So we need a formula that show the difference between the created date (of the opp) to the close date and then take the average for a certain set of Opps..

 

Does this make sense?

    Hey Nell,

     

    So let me ask you this. Is one of the stages for your Opportunities called 'Lead'. This is where I am getting a little confused. 

     

    In traditional, standard Salesforce, Leads are their own object and not even related to Opportunities (except when converted)

     

    Let me know and I can help you get to where you are trying to go.

     

    Additionally what edition of Salesforce are you using. Please say enterprise.
