Territory Management

Hello everyone, I have been asked to enable Territory Management since we have 1 user in Europe that covers two different territories and reports to 2 different managers. I am hesitant to do this however since once you enable it, you are stuck with it. I also don't want to get locked out of any new features in the future (such as Collaborative Forecasts) because of it. Also, if I read the documentation correctly, TM isn't available to new customers after Winter '12 (although I could be wrong on this part) making me wonder if something better will be coming in the near future.

 

We currently have Customizable Forecasting enabled and will try using it since it has more features than the existing Collaborative Forecasting and currently will better meet our business needs.

 

Any recommendations from the more "seasoned" admins or perhaps someone responsible for the TM product at Salesforce? I don't think I have a choice in this matter but looking for some guidance anyways. TIA! ... More

    I assume this is no longer relevant, but in case anyone else looks at this:

     

    I agree Maria, enabling territory mangment for just one user, does not make sense.

     

    I assume you have a private sharing model? territory mangment  is mainly about sharing records, so I would use sharing rules to share the relevant's territory opportunities with this user and vice verse share this user's records with the manager who is not diretly above the user in the role hierarchy.  TM is mainly
