I am the new SF admin for an org who already has *some* processes in place. One such process is to have the sales team fill out all the product purchase information on the opportunity. We are a saas model with several different modules that can be added in various configurations.
When a sales person fills out the oppty record, they fill in all pertinent information for the sale (check boxes for modules purchased, and for each module purchased the start date, number of seats for each module - yes, it varies - and the implementation timeframe). It's great but, it's the part AFTER all of this that is proving difficult.
Our process currently: post closed won sale our sales team then takes all the information and cut/pastes it into a word form to pass all the information that is already in the oppty record to our implementation team who then manually enters the same values into the account records. Same fields, different object. It's WAY too much work, very cumbersome for sales, and there should be a way to push this information
My ideal process would be to have this information updated on the account page once the opportunity hits the "closed won" stage and result in an email pulling all the relevant information which then gets sent to our implementation team.
Thoughts?

SteveMo! Great questions - here's what I'm thinking:
Would like to push various custom fields (date fields, text fields, and check boxes) to their equivalent on the account record.
As for which opportunities - our opportunities are for a year contract, so maybe it's possible to only have this triggered by specific oppty record types (new business vs renewals) since the main oppty would be pulling in the bulk of information, whereas the opptys after would be small changes to the account.
