PROFILE GRADING BEST PRACTISE

Hi everyone. New to the group, looking forward to collaborating with you all!

I’m new to implementing Pardot and wanted to get some feedback on a scenario that I believe could get out of control.

- my customer has 26 total grading profiles in their system. They’ve asked me to run allocation rules for 13 of them to allocate a profile accordingly (so let’s just focus on 13!).

- my thinking is this is far too many profiles and I believe they are using profiles to segment their customers by industry. The problem I see is if each profile has 4x auto rules (1x profile allocation and 3x profile criteria changes) that’s 52 auto rules just on profiles. If they ask me to do the same for the other 13, we’ll go over their 100 auto rules.

SOLUTION

- go back to the drawing board and ask them to map out what industries / titles etc are a ‘strong, good and weak’ match to build an ideal customer profile and use accordingly, use the default grading (except for any outliers to that rule where I build a custom profile)

I wanted to know if I’m right in my assessment and if I’m correct in my thinking around a solution?
