Hi everyone,
I would like to confirm my hypothesis to this question: I would like to turn on Lightning Experience only for myself by assigning a "Lightning Experience" Permission Set to myself (pilot group of one).
If anything in our Classic org will break in Lightning, then would it break only for me while I'm working in Lightning? In other words, no other users would notice any changes as they continue to work in Classic as if nothing had happened?
The specific functions I am particularly concerned about affecting are our automated Processes and Workflows, because they are associated with important Custom Objects and custom logic. I will need to investigate these further.
If I were to turn on Lightning Experience only for myself, would these Processes and Workflows be affected?
Thanks in advance for your help!
@Ramya Ramamoorthy, @Kelly Vida, @Demario Snead, and @Scott Eng , thank you all so much for your comments and advice -- all are extremely helpful.
I should and will start working from the Sandbox to test more rigorously, and also have a few follow-up questions:
First, the reason I am considering switching on Lightning at this point is that I am trying to launch a new Community, powered by Knowledge Articles, Document Libraries, and the Search function, to create a resource we desperately need.
Knowing that
1.) we intend to migrate to Lightning,
2.) the Migration is a lower corporate priority than the Community, and
3.) some Knowledge features are reportedly incompatible,
I am trying to plan the Community to prevent Migration issues.
I wonder if I could
1.) enable Lightning for myself first,
2.) configure and launch Knowledge through the Lightning interface, allowing for Lightning configurations such as Knowledge Record Types instead of Article Types, and
3.) launch the Community for others to use.
Would the Community URLs be any different? What are major flaws to this idea I'm overlooking?
Second, to Kelly's point, is there an efficient way to re-assign all Standard Profiles to Custom Profiles, or is the only way to manually click all the Users to re-assign?
Thank you all again!
