Can you give your feedback on how this free class along with trailhead activities prepare us for the paid course?

There are no stats on that, nor do I think you would be able to effectively gauge anything with them if they were available. The reality is that the design of Salesforce certification exams targets experience as well as information and knowledge and always have. It is rare that someone attending class (or a cert prep webinar) could glean enough information to pass the exam without having worked with the platform. Which is how it should be (IMNSHO).
