Hi - Currently we are using the Salesforce classic service console app.

We are leveraging the feature of "Primay Tab" and "Subtab" in the app (Setup --> Apps); inside the app you will see the section "Choose How Lists and Records Display".

In our app, we making the Case to open as a subtab of "Contact" and on the contact page layout, also we have designed the custom console component to show the right hand side bar all the time on the case. This is a very productive feature for our service desk to get a 360 degreee view directly from the Case page.

We are wondering if there are any similar feature in lightning to leverage the below 2 features of classic to work together:

1. "primary and sub tab feature of app" combined with

2. "custom console component feature of page layout" to achieve the 360 degree view. (which is a requirement specific to our business)

Before we invest our time & effort on developing our custom lightning components, we would like to raise this question to Salesforce to understand, if they have any plans to introduce the above 2 features in Lightning experience.

If Salesforce has this feature in the roadmap, then we would like to understand any rough timelines around it, before we take the route of building custom lightning components.

#1 is supported in Winter '18. We're calling it Navigation Rules in Lightning and you can configure them through app manager.

#2 is a high priority for the Spring '18 release, but it's tricky so we're not sure if it will make it yet. The current plan is to start with only left & top regions, not right.

In the meantime, you can add custom lightning components in the left region of a 3 column Lightning Page even though those won't be visible when clicking on related subtabs.
