Curious if there are any best practices for upgrading to Lightning with a single Admin user. Since I am going to be managing the move solo in my organization, I'd love to hear how other folks have done it without a team to tackle communication, training and user adoption.

I would start with your power users - those who are using Salesforce to the fullest capacity within your organization, and have fully embraced the tool. Depending on how you're setup, if your best users are sprinkled across a variety of departments, you're building an internal support team for each department when you move over the rest of that team. My feeling would be to do the power users first, then one department at a time after that in a phased approach.
