Is anyone using Salesforce Shield to encrypt Name, Phone numbers and other personally identifiable information AND using a deduplication or duplicate prevention tool?

1. Am curious if you've found a product that deals w/ the Individual hybrid model of FSC to help prevent duplicates. Would love to get comment from Salesforce about roadmap for Dup Management for FSC.
2. Bigger item is it seems Salesforce is advising customers to have Shield as part of their FINRA/SEC compliance. But as soon as we start encrypting fields, we can no longer use them in SOQL WHERE clauses, sort in list views, etc. So curious how firms are using Shield in a way that does not sacrifice function/feature.
