Visit the Community Hub
A good starting point is the Tableau Community Hub, a centralized space dedicated to helping newcomers and community veterans alike share, discover, learn, and be inspired. It’s also where you can easily access the Community blog, which highlights the latest goings-on in the community.
Build Your Data Skills
Whether you’re a beginner or expert, the Tableau Community has the resources, programs, and people you need to become a data rockstar. If you’re just starting out, check out the Welcome page to take a tour of the community.
Find Answers in the Forums
One way to build your data skills is to search, browse, and find answers to questions in the forums. There are tens of thousands of questions, so chances are you’re not the first person to have your question.
Ask a Question
Don’t see the answer you’re looking for? In that case, go ahead and ask a question yourself.
Simply choose a topic relevant to your question and select 
within that topic.
Collaborate in User Groups
Another way to build your Tableau skills is to join a virtual or in-person user group. It’s a great way to connect with others in your area who share your interests.
Take Advantage of Tableau Public
Members of the Tableau Community also love to use Tableau Public, a free data visualization platform where you can explore an extensive library of visualizations to get inspired, and easily start creating your own visualizations right from the browser.

Practice with Projects
Once you’ve got the basics down, the Tableau Community offers lots of opportunities for you to practice. Members of the community from around the world create and lead projects to help you learn and put your data skills to the test.
Here are just a few.
Makeover Monday is a weekly event where participants can practice creating visualizations by using the same data set.
Workout Wednesday is a weekly challenge where you’re tasked with re-creating an existing visualization.
Iron Quest, founded by Tableau Visionary Sarah Bartlett, is a monthly community-led data visualization project that aims to help you build the skills needed for Iron Viz, without the pressure of a real competition.
And that brings us to Iron Viz, the world’s largest formal visualization competition. Finalists are invited to compete at the annual Tableau Conference, where data enthusiasts from around the world come together in one place.
These are just a few of the skills-based community projects at your disposal, designed by the community, for the community.
Get to Know the DataFam
Last but not least, the community is nothing without the people in it, who are willing to lend their expertise, answer questions in the forums, engage at community events, and so forth.
Tableau Ambassadors
Tableau Ambassadors are Tableau evangelists who embody the spirit of the community. Each year, a group of community members is selected from thousands of nominations and applications.
