Review Key Metrics with the Main Dashboard

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you'll be able to:

  • Describe the purpose of the Main dashboard metrics.
  • Summarize how the Main dashboard metrics provide clues to storefront performance.
  • Explain how to switch which metric displays in the Main dashboard's chart pane.
  • Apply the Main dashboard metrics to a use case solution.

Look at the Data

The Agentforce Commerce for B2C Reports & Dashboards tool provides you with a single source to access, monitor, and analyze critical site data.

When you log in to Reports & Dashboards, the Home dashboard is the first dashboard you see. The Home dashboard, located under the Home tab, is a performance summary of many data points throughout your sites. It shows you key performance metrics for your sites over the period that you specify.

The Main dashboard shows performance data for revenue, site visits, orders, top-selling products, and the most popular promotions. These key performance indicators (KPIs) provide a general summary of site performance. The Main dashboard shows Brandon where his sites exceed performance goals and where deeper analysis and fine-tuning boost performance and revenue.

Explore the Main Dashboard

The dashboard has two sets of charts and analytics.

The Home dashboard with highlighted charts for Revenue, Number of Orders, Number of Visits, Average Order Value, and the Order Conversion Rate, and highlighted tables for Top Selling Products, and Most Used Promotions.

Description

Charts (1)

The charts represent their data as line graphs, plotted as daily values over time. You use these analytics to identify correlations between revenue, orders, and site visits.

  • Revenue: Sales revenue shown in your realm currency, or in the site currency when you filter to sites that share one currency.
  • Number of Orders: The number of orders placed.
  • Number of Visits: The number of site visits made by customers. Average Order Value: The average value of each order. Calculated as: total revenue/total number of orders.
  • Order Conversion Rate: The percentage of visits that result in an order being completed. Calculated as: the total number of orders/the number of site visits.

Tables (2)

The tables break down the details of the top performers for products and promotions. The reports give you an indication of promotion success and product sales.

  • Top Selling Products: A list of the top-selling products. The list includes the number of units sold, the revenue from sales, and the percentage of total revenue generated.
  • Most Used Promotions: A list of the most popular promotions. The list includes the promotion class, the number of times the promotion was used, and the value of the total discount given.

All five chart metrics share one pane. Revenue displays by default as a detailed line graph in the large pane on the left, while Number of Orders, Number of Visits, Average Order Value, and Order Conversion Rate show as abbreviated versions in the four panes on the right. Click any pane on the right, and its metric swaps into the large pane on the left so you review its detailed trend.

Collectively, the Main dashboard analytics show you a broad view of your realm operations. The datasets on the Home dashboard help you assess general site performance and identify aspects of your site implementation that warrant further analysis.

Review the Metrics Summary and Dive Deeper

The Home dashboard offers an easy way to review key site analytics, assess storefront performance, and determine which other dashboard to access for detailed analysis.

Last week, your team kicked off a new storefront promotion called Run with Faster Socks. It offers customers who purchase a pair of Custom Soft Stride running shoes, 50% off 10 pairs of Personalized Swift Runner socks. Now, in its second week, you want to check the metrics on the promotion.

Here's how to do it.

  • In Business Manager, click App Launcher, and then select Merchant Tools | Analytics | Reports & Dashboards.
  • On the Main dashboard, click the date dropdown, select Custom range, and set a 14-day window that covers the promotion's launch.

You look for trends that tell you how customers are responding to the promotion. You can see from the data on the Home dashboard that the promotion is running successfully.

The Cloud Kicks Main Dashboard showing results for the past two weeks of the Cloud Kicks Run with Faster Socks promotion.

  • Site visits are up by 300,000. That's a 28% increase over the past 2 weeks (1).
  • Custom Soft Stride shoes and Personalized Swift Runner sock sales are close to their units-sold sales targets (2).
  • The Run with Faster Socks promotion is listed as a Most Used Promotion (3). But as you dig a bit deeper into the dashboard analytics, you’re concerned with the decrease in order conversion rate.
  • Order conversions are down 3% over the past 2 weeks (4). You know that more site visits usually means a slight drop in the conversion rate, but 3% is a bit higher than expected.

You want to find the cause of the drop in order conversion rate. You filter the dashboard results for each site in your realm. By narrowing the dashboard view by site, you identify site anomalies that impact the order conversion rate. You find that on your French language sites, the sales of the promotional items are flat, and the number of times the promotion was used is below expectations. You wonder whether the promotion is configured correctly on the French language site.

Your next step is to check the Sales, Products, and Promotions dashboards for detailed site metrics to confirm your suspicion that the promotion isn't working on the French language site. With a little more investigation, you find that an error in the translation of the promotion text is the likely reason the promotion isn’t being used on that site.

Wrap It Up

In this unit, you learned that the Home dashboard is the control center where you monitor and analyze metrics that gauge the performance of your realm.
