Task on a lead object and I would like to attach it to an other object.

I am wondering if anyone has run into an issue with a validation rule on one standard Object creating a problem on another. Specifically, our Org has a validation rule on the Account Object to ensure that the standard field entitled "Account Number" is always populated when a record is either created or modified by certain internal users. However, when those same internal users employ the standard "Convert" button on a lead record to create a new account, they are unable to complete the action due to the validation rule for the "Account Number" field. I have attempted to add the "Account Number" field to the layout for the standard "Convert" button on the Lead Object, but that does not seem to be possible. Thus, for the moment, I have had to deactivate the validation rule, as I was driving some of our internal users nuts.

Has anyone run into this issue, and how did you come up with a solution to ensure that validation rules can stay active?

Thank you,

Jordan Reil

Hi,Can anyone tell me when should we use Candidate patients and when to use Lead Object,I am a bit confused ,I know that we can use Candidate Patients when we get data from EHR system and lead can be used to get leads from web etc.are there any other use cases that I might be missing.

@Ankit Singh - I would not recommend Candidate Patients, unless potentially for research use cases. The SF documentation can be a bit mis-leading here. Candidate is usually NOT used. For potential leads, a lead record type is sufficient, prospect usually the word of choice.

Hello, I create duplicates for Lead Object, but if I check the database on the Developer Console the Duplicate Record Item Database is not populated (in the UI it shows me the duplicate for the lead I am creating). Is there a system delay on populating the Duplicate Record Item Table or something else?

Is there a way to make a picklist globally dependent? For example, I've added an "industry subcategory" to the lead and account objects. It's dependent on the "Industry" field. However, it looks like I need to update the dependencies on each object, rather than being able to do it globally. Am I missing something? Thank you!

    Hi @Justin Vallandingham

    - thanks for asking your question in our Essentials Community! It sounds like you'll need to map the dependent picklist on the lead to the dependent picklist on the account.

To do this, go to Setup > Object Manager > Lead > Map Lead Fields. From there, you can select the dropdown for the industry subcategory picklist, and it should map, so long as the picklist values match. Hope this helps!

Hello @* MC Account Engagement (fka Pardot) * community

I'm preparing some lead gen scenarios with Pardot.

My org uses several lead record types. A Pardot prospect can be assigned to a lead record type based on the marketing asset it interacted with (= to be more precise, based on the marketing team who setuped the marketing asset).

My question is : how do you manage record types in Pardot prospects and then create Salesforce leads with a specific record type ?

I found this workaround : https://www.salesforceben.com/solution-mapping-lead-record-types/

Did some of you already implement this process ? Do you have any feedback to share with us ?

Thanks

Hi @Mark Heffernan, I didn't find any documentation on Pardot about this. Some Sales Cloud users might deal with the same issue from other lead gen tools... Thanks for your help

Hey @Steve Molis and friends,

I want to show all new domains to our instance on a report from the lead level.

I have a new formula field on the lead object that extracts just the email domain to compare.

Now that I have all the lead records associated with only their domain, how do i look at all other account and lead domains to compare and find only the new domains entering our instance?

Thanks!

-Russell

Hi All,

I have a requirement that requires me to make a custom field on Lead Object. now lets call this custom field as "Campaign Names" and its type will be picklist. Now this "Campaign Names" has to auto-populated with the Campaign Names in our Org. Also whenever a new Campaign is created  or deleted then its names should be added or deleted accordingly.

Even if you have a idea then do post here...!!!!

Regarding the use of email templates in the Salesforce outlook integrations, is there a way to relate the email template to the lead object / record? When I select the "Log Email on Send" I am able to relate the message to the specific lead. However, when trying to use a premade template surrounding our lead process I am unable to select "Lead" in the related to options to get the merge fields to correctly populate.

Anyone in the B2C services space using SF FSC with Contacts object only, i.e. not using the Lead object? In lead gen and conversion to appointment set, we treat leads and contacts the same and primarily treat them as a household. We hear the lead object is meant to be light and contacts is "heavier" and may impact performance. Would love to hear from anyone who is using contact only.

Good points above from Marcus. Also, Lead and Contact are both similar in performance. If you use some other features like case management, you will need to use Contact as it won't work for Lead. You will also need Contact if you want to enable Community access for those users. Also, if you decide to associate the same contact (individual) to multiple groups or households, you will be able to do it with contacts, not lead. You don't need to use Leads unless you have relevant use case. @Christine Anderson
