I have got the SQL to run in snowflake but it fails in Tableau - i looks like Tableau is adding 2 lines ahead of what i am writing so the INSERT is not working , any ideas I am trying to use Custom sql to send a parameter to write back to snowflake , I know that you can write back with Initial SQL at connection time but i want a user to type something in and it write back .

    Hi @phil cheeseman

SQL (the SELECT command) and DML (the INSERT command) are two completely different things.

I know a lot of people will tell you that INSERT is SQL but it's not. Tableau supports SQL, but not DML. Tableau will never write back to a database because it just cannot. You will have to find/create an extension to do what you're trying to do.
