I have a cute little calendar-shaped reference table that I'd like to keep in my dashboard, but I can't make it play nicely with the select-multiple filters the rest of the dashboard needs to use. The data doesn't have every date represented, so it uses a pad date source relationship to fill out the rest of the calendar. This works fine until a filter is applied, but any filter control that excludes NULL loses all the date padding.

  • Can't use the fill missing values feature or similar in Prep Builder because the content needs to be as close to live as possible
  • Can't use parameter filter because it needs to be able to select one/many/all values from filters with many members
  • Can't use blend because the filter would need to apply to the aggregation in the related (orange) dataset, not the main (blue) dataset.

Select multiple filter but that always keep NULL values from padded data?effect of filter excluding NULL losing padded datesI figure this is pretty niche and a long shot, but I think that kind of calendar visual would be a neat thing to be able to do.

Thanks!

Hi, It would really help us investigate this question if you could upload a packaged workbook (.twbx) of the problem. For more information on how to create a packaged workbook see:

    Packaged Workbooks

If you are unable to share your data you can also use the Superstore Sample data source that comes bundled with Tableau or you can also anonymize your data
