Morning,

My company hold a competition.  When they set out they didn't put any rules or restrictions on who could and could not enter.  So right now we have 233 teams.  Each team is required to give us their city and state.  We want to populate a map and plot each team's location.

Here's the issue - each team is located within the US which includes AK, HI and PR.  The outlier that I am having issues dealing with is a team from Germany. How do you deal with that?  I am fairly new to creating maps in Tableau as I do not do that in the normal course of my job.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Scott

    Hi Scott

    you just need a group

1 Add a column in the data for country  and Tableau

2 use a calculation like   if [team]=xys then "Germany" else "US" end

    3 create groups manually

to learn more about creating groups see See it your way: FAQ Series - Creating Groups

then I would make a hierarchy    country - state - city
