Is there any ways to see a "current stage" on an opportunity history report? I'm trying to answer the question: "how many opportunities of a certain stage and higher did we add last month?" Opportunities can move in either direction in our pipeline. So, if something moves from prospect to qualified prospect, then back to prospect, I don't want it to show on the report. Hence the need for a filter on "current stage".

Try the Opportunity
FieldHistory report type instead. You can pull current Stage into that one. Add a filter for Field/Event = "Stage" and then your other filters (New Value = "Qualified Prospect", Stage != "Prospect", Edit Date = LAST WEEK).
