For Early Renewal + Expansion for CPQ, I've been trying to find the best practices for this and I feel like I'm finding all sorts of answers so I wanted to come here for the correct answer.
Here is my use case: I have a New Business opportunity, here are the values:
Contract Start: Nov 1, 2024
Contract End: Oct 31, 2025
Quantity 1 widget
In this case the renewal contract start and end will be:
Contract Start: Nov 1, 2025
Contract End: Oct 31, 2026
Let's pretend that on February 1, 2025, this customer wants to expand their widgets to 5 AND they want to renew early. So I want the 5 widget subscription start date to be the Feb 1, 2025, but then I want the end date to be the renewal end date which would be Oct 31, 2026. What is the best way to do this?
1. Do I amend first? then requote the renewal so the amended items are reflected on the renewal?
2. How do I make sure the dates are reflected correctly?

To handle early renewal and expansion in CPQ, follow these steps:
- Amend the Existing Contract: First, create an amendment for the current contract to add the 4 additional widgets (making it a total of 5). Set the start date for this amendment as February 1, 2025.
- Renewal Quote: After amending, generate the renewal quote. Ensure that the new quantity and dates reflect in this renewal. The renewal contract should start on November 1, 2025, and end on October 31, 2026.
- Check Dates: Confirm that the new contract's end date matches the renewal end date. This ensures seamless transitions between contracts.
