During the initial phase of our CPQ implementation in 2020-2021 we looked at using MDQ for quotes where the quantity of products or the products themselves would change over the life of the contract
eg Year 1 - 10 Widgets, Year 2 - 20 Widgets, Year 3 - 30 Widget + 1 addon etc...
Our quotes often have a large BOM with 150-250 quote lines. Once MDQ was added the picture we immediately ran into performance issues, CPU timeout errors and the like so we abandoned the idea of MDQ and left the above scenario out of scope of the system.
I have been asked to investigate options to support this scenario now so I am wondering if anyone is aware of any improvements that have been made to MDQ that might resolve the performance issues or allow it to deal with larger quotes?
@David Hampson i dont see any changes to MDQ in last 2-3 years. MDQ can be Ideal for smaller set of Products on QLE. Definitely not for the Quotes with 150 Lines.
May be you can try using CPQ API Models or Order Management in baground you can create Quote Lines or Order Lines based on some rules defined on Quote.
