Why aren't my custom apps listed under "apps" in the salesforce1 navigation menu?

I am working through trailhead and I am just wondering why my custom apps aren't listed under the Apps Menu on Salesforce1 Mobile App. I can see the objects in the smart search but not my custom apps. I don't have the option to add it to the menu in the navigation menu setup screen in my org either. Is there a setting checkbox that I did not check when I did the app set-up? Thanks
