Any way to Customize console app tabs to show different predefined colors

Correct, the colour will apply to all tabs in the same app.

The default way to tell the difference between the two is via the Object Icon on the left hand side;

However if you had lots of tabs this could be lost, I don't think there is a way to change colours per object like you describe
