FINAL REMINDER: Enhanced Domains Auto-Deployed with Summer ’23

This is a friendly reminder that Salesforce deploys enhanced domains in Summer ’23. This process is already underway in sandboxes, and starting in June, this feature is auto-deployed in production orgs that don’t already have enhanced domains. Because of the potential impact of this feature, we highly recommend that you test and deploy this feature before it’s deployed for you.

Reminder

In preparation for Summer ’23, Salesforce enables enhanced domains and provisions the new domains. When this step is complete, the My Domain Setup page shows the new domain and the option to deploy it. If you see this screen, you can deploy the new domain with enhanced domains. Or, to also change your My Domain name when you deploy enhanced domains, click Cancel New Domain, then save the change to your My Domain Details.

Note: If you cancel the new domain without saving a different My Domain change with enhanced domains, Salesforce enables enhanced domains again.

@Chloe Majors Thanks for asking. The high-level takeaway is that the Summer '23 release automatically deploys enhanced domains to orgs that aren't yet using it. Spring '23 allowed orgs to postpone the automatic deployment of enhanced domains to Summer '23, but Summer '23 doesn't have an option to postpone the deployment of enhanced domains to Winter '24 (mid-October 2023).

Some orgs may notice the presence of a button named "Cancel New Domain". That button doesn't exempt an org from enhanced domains and instead removes a provisioned but not-yet-deployed My Domain change. It's possible to turn off enhanced domains by unchecking that checkbox and saving it before pressing the "Deploy New Domain" button, and that combination of actions turns off enhanced domains.

More information regarding the separate provisioning and deployment steps can be found in https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.domain_name_setup.htm&type=5 .
