What are the capabilities and limitations of Salesforce vs additional functionality of Marketing Cloud?
I was asked by members in the Marketing Department what are the capabilities and limitations of Salesforce vs additional functionality of Marketing Cloud? We don't have Marketing Cloud. I know the Campaign object is a standard object in Salesforce (Sales Cloud) and helps track feedback on Campaigns, we can send emails as part of a campaign, etc; but walking someone through a campaign & managing it is something I could use some help. I am checking Trailhead and the documentation. I know Pardot gives a more detailed and granular view of marketing touchpoints, but might be too early for that.
Also, they (Marketing Department) already spoke to someone from Salesforce about Marketing Cloud, but they said "it felt more like a pitch deck, not a detailed brief on capabilities" and limitations. So I need to gather detailed info on use cases and limits. Thanks in advance.

Marketing Cloud is the tool for marketing communications, the main point is that it can deliver mass communications to customers across various marketing channels. Salesforce Sales Cloud has some hard limitations in terms of emails for example: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000381534&type=1
Marketing Cloud also includes Journey Builder which is designed to handle 1:1 multi-step multi-channel customer communications. It also includes many other useful features for marketing, for more details please check out this article on salesforceben: https://www.salesforceben.com/the-drip/what-is-salesforce-marketing-cloud
