Hello everyone,

Hopefully, somebody from the Salesforce team can provide more insight on the below.

For a new org implementation that is looking for functionalities such as Donations management/Moves management, Relationship Management i.e. the features that exist today with NPSP,

  1. can one implement a new NFP cloud instance and then install the NPSP package on it?
  2. Would this be the right approach OR should one opt for standard NPSP at this point and migrate to NFP cloud at a later stage?

I think it's very early to declare that it requires significant migration effort... has anyone seen the data model in detail? I still haven't (GRRR) , but I'm not convinced it will be that bad. And assuming Salesforce Data Cloud means anything at all, I see a lot of potential in simply putting legacy data from NPSP into DataCloud in it's natural data relationship and building new connections to it in nonprofit cloud. (Hint... hint... Salesforce... help us move faster than 4-6 released. You have the capability!)

I did go over in detail the data structure for the Benefits management (because it's public now) and they seem to completely match one or one the program management (which also almost completely matches one for one V4SF). Just different names and a few extra capabilities. Of course, the procedures stuff won't work, but the procedure data capture stuff is always the most customized and specious in my experience. The underlying data and rollups and reporting and most important, IMO.

So, while I'm as queasy as anyone about the changes, and more impatient than most perhaps as we wait for the 4-6 releases that it really takes Salesforce to deliver something new, I'm not at all thinking it has to be bad. Once they get a few customers on board with nonprofit cloud, surely it will appeal to them to put some cycles onto healthy ways to bridge NPSP -> industry based nonprofit cloud. We'll see, I guess.
