I'm working in Tableau desktop and trying to create a Salesforce data source. I've done it in the past with no issues but something changed toward the end of last year and now I am unable to connect.

When I click add new data source and click on Salesforce in the server list, it opens an authentication page in my browser (Edge or Chrome - tried them both). When I log in on the browser and click to enable access, I get a window in Tableau desktop that says Authentication failed. Error Code: 84223ADA.  Connection refused:  connect.

I'm an admin in Salesforce and when I look up the Delegated Authentication Error History it shows my username, login time and error: java.net.MalformedURLException

Any ideas how to fix this?  My Tableau support team has no idea. I've not been able to find anything on the web. My coworker with same setup as me can connect. Please help!

Hi Jonathan. I appreciate your quick response.

    1) We have enterprise edition and have not had that issue that I'm aware. Plus others are able to connect.

    2) We have 1 authentication for logging into our system and Salesforce has been set up for that authentication - so I don't even have a password. When I log into Salesforce - it is a button for our company login.

    3) I don't even get to the data as the connection is refused. But if I did, as an administrator, I have access to all the data.

    4) I originally thought it might be my Tableau version (2021.3.7) but since my coworkers have the same version of Tableau desktop and are able to connect, it can't be that.

    5) This one I'm not sure of. I am not an IT admin and this stuff is locked down pretty tightly.

Considering my coworker who has the exact same setup in Salesforce can connect, I'm thinking it has to be something in my browser or on my pc.  I did get a new laptop about the time I started having issues.  I was hoping somebody would know of something on my pc or in my browser that might be causing the issue.  I tried changing several settings (what I have access to change) in my browser with no success. Is there any way I can check to see if the firewall or some other configuration is blocking the connection? I'm not sure how to go about that.
