In attempting to customize the User Profile page layout and Lightning Page, I've found that the User record Highlights Panel component does not behave as it does for every other object.
User Profile page highlights seems to show only the photo, name, and the next three additional fields from the User compact layout. However, which fields it will allow to be shown here is inconsistent - there are certain fields that will appear in the hover for a lookup link, but not in the record page Highlights panel. Since there is no visibility to Field-level security for standard fields on the User object, it's a total guessing game which fields you will be able to display here.
I've been unable to find any documentation specifically about limitations/guidelines for customizing this object, but the Compact Layout Limitations and Considerations imply we should be able to see 7 fields. In my testing, I was only able to display 4 fields (5 counting the photo, which is not listed in the Compact layout list but always displayed in the Compact layout/Highlights panel).
Anyone found better documentation on this, or have any insight into User standard field visibility?
