So, I'm working as a new volunteer Salesforce Admin with a nonprofit who supports small business development by connecting entrepreneurs to mentorship, technical assistance, and access to capital.  They work with startups already operating as well as people who need guidance in potentially creating a startup.  So their clients/accounts are sometimes businesses, but alot of individual people.  They're looking to migrate from a free CRM to Salesforce and as I was using the Import Wizard, I thought this might be a good situation in which to activate Person Accounts in addition to Business Accounts, but I've been reading that it's not recommended by Salesforce for nonprofits.  Why is this and are there any suggestions for an alternative?

    Hi Adam,

Are you currently using or planning on using Non-profit Success Pack (NPSP) (https://powerofus.force.com/s/article/NPSP-Documentation)? If so, this managed package will not work with Person Accounts. Most non-profits function with a household model since their donors will be part of family and they want to keep track of those relationships. I think your main driver will be wether or not you want all the cool features NPSP comes with out of the box for donor management and other things.

It will really come down to what your organization needs as to wether Person Accounts are the answer.

Also, Power of Us can be a good community to learn more about NPSP.

    Hope that helps!
