How set up dublicate rule to the Contract object?

Question

Hi. I need to set up some a rule to exclude the opportunity for users to create two records with the same Contract Name. I read that I can use Setup - Duplicate rules for this purpose, but if I create a new rule I can not select that it relates to the Contract object.

I know that there is such a function for custom fields in objects.

May you know another way to resolve the described issue. Will appreciate any ideas

Thank you for ideas, but unfortunately, I can't use triggers. I have got an error "You do not have the level of access necessary to perform the operation you requested" when trying to create a new one, though I am a System Administrator.

I have resolved this issue with the next decision:

1) create a new text field "check unique name" and turn on the unique requirement option

2) add a condition in the process builder to update the "check unique name" with the "Contract name" value each time when it changes

May this approach will help somebody else.

You can create a trigger on Opportunity to check duplicate Contract name.
