IF statement in a formula field

Hi guys, I'm trying to create a formula field that returns a value based on whether or not a lookup field is populated or not.

 

So, if Date DatedExcRate__c is populated the calculation needs to be Amount_Test__c * DatedExcRate__c.Rate. Rate__c is located in the Parent record DatedExcRate__c

 

If DatedExcRate__c is not populated Amount_Test__c needs to show the same value of the Amount__c field which is located within the same record (Not DatedExcRate__c).

    Let's try this:

    IF (ISBLANK(DatedExcRate__c), Amount__c, Amount_Test__c * DatedExcRate__r.Rate__c)
