Change the record type on a task.

I've created four types of task record types: vendor, matters, litigation and generic use. 3 out of the four are working great. I have checked all the usual places: profile settings, user object rights, defaults etc. Nothing seems to work with the last record type. It shows up on the options but when it's selected and saved it saves as the original tasks record type not the selected one. Thoughts?
