My org has an approval process with formulas around minimum order quantity, quantity increment, and price discounts, all of which are managed on the product object and validaded in opportunity products. For quotes that are in compliance, no approval is needed. But product manager approval is needed to approve, and thus allow dissemination, of quotes that are not in compliance on all three formulas.
I want to allow quote syncing, but I have an obvious hole in the system: a salesman can get a quote approved, then simply change the quote to not be in compliance and send it out. Once it is approved, if the quote is synced it can be edited and sent. I used to have a rule in effect that would disallow editing of quotes, which fixed that, but it causes trouble when salesmen want to edit quotes.
Does anyone have a good way around this? The validation around price, minimum quantity, and quantity increment exists on the opportunity product level. Is there a way to re-check and revoke quote approval automatically if these are not in compliance?

Hi Martin,
Yes this is possible,the only thing you will have to do is write one more step in the entry criteria of the approval process "IsSyncing =true", by putting this criteria the record will go to approval if the quote is synced or else it will not.
Or
Create a field named 'Approval Status' on the quotes with picklist values Approved/Rejected/Pending Approval.
In the approval 1st step write an field update which updates the 'Approval Status' to 'Pending for Approval' when the user submits for approval and in the last step based on the approval or rejection write an field update to change the status to Approved or Rejected.
Write an validation rule on the quotes that "IsSyncing =true && Approval_Status__c="Pending for Approval"
Now when the user clicks submit for approval and if he has not synced the quote an 'Error message will be displayed" asking him/her to sync the quote and then submit for approval.
