Cross object formula not copying value correctly

I've run into an interesting problem that I wonder if anyone else has seen.  I have a custom field on my opportunity object that is copying a value from a field on a related custom object (essentially a cross object formula).  The values in the source field are "yes" and "no".  I've set up the formula to copy these values from the custom object to the opportunity without an issue. and it seemed to be workign fine. Upon further inspection of the data, I noticed the formula is not copying the value, but simply placing "yes" in the field everytime rather than the correct value.

 

I should also mention the source field on the custom object is the result of a calcualtion being performed between a few fields on the custom object.

 

Has anyone else run into an issue like this?

    Norm, the discrepancy that you are observing depends on the formulas behind the two fields. We can help and troubleshoot better if you could post the formulas for each of the two fields (both source and target).
