Editing product descriptions when adding them to opportunities and quotes

I see in earlier posts that this is possible, but no detailed instructions on how to do this.

I need to append or insert langauage either on the Opportunity or the Quote for the Product Description on a per Opportunity/Quote basis.

Can this be accomplished and please provide detailed, step by step instructions if so.
