One of my users really doesn't like using Salesforce.  He much prefers to log everything in Outlook which is shared with his team, but not with the wider organisation.  What ca I do to help persuade him that Salesforce is the best place to log his customer visits and hold his customer meeting notes?  I've explained how the whole organisation needs visibility of customer inerractions, but he insists that sharing outlook with his team is sufficient.

Before I get heavy handed, has anyone got any 'soft' persuasive tips to help get a reluctant user on board?

The most effective way to get everyone on board with using Salesforce is to standardize on it for information collection and sharing -- "if it isn't in Salesforce, it doesn't exist".   If your team Managers are using metrics based on Salesforce data to evaluate team performance, everyone pretty quickly figures out they are not getting credit for their work if they don't record it.

In this particular case, what happens if the company decides to use a different email server?  What happens when someone (like an Exec) needs to understand the current status of a customer?  What happens when a customer calls and the information your company needs to help them is not available in Salesforce?

All of the above are interesting arguments, but if your executive team is not commited to Salesforce, none of them matter.  Since this person seems to be a team leader of some sort, all it will take is their Manager to only accept data/updates/metrics from Salesforce.
