Why can't I enter a Lead without an email address?

Question

When I try to enter a Lead without an email address, it doesn't allow me to save, and comes up with an error code..."email address is required". Is there a way to turn off this requirement?  And allow me to enter leads without email address?

Please check the Page Layout and Validation rule.

Page Layout Path :-

Setup >> Build >> Customize >> Leads >> Page Layouts Edit the Page Layout and check the below settings

Validation : -

Setup >> Build >> Customize >> Leads >> Validation Rules

Hi Dave,   Its not defult required by Salesforce. May be your Org Admin has made it mandatory.
