Detail Link in a Visualforce email template

Trying to avoid hard-coding my instance in a visualforce email template, but cant find anything like the Detail Link merge field that is an option in a regular email template.

Is there any such thing for a VF email template, or any trickery or black magic that can accomplish this?

Otherwise migrating from sandbox to prod is much more work / manual / unreliable
