How do you create a report with the tally marks like activities w/ tasks/events?

I want my report to look like the example of the report when you click activities---->Tasks/Events.  For example: I want phone calls: 2

 

emails:5

 

Meetings:12

 

Total: etc.

 

I want a report on the total activities of each kind.

    You can use Record Count in a Matrix report for that.
