Validation Rule for % Field on Custom Object

We have a % field on a custom object. The custom object has a required field "Account". I'm looking to have a validation rule to prevent users from being able to enter records in this custom object for the same related account where the sum of the % field is > 100%.

 

For example, Account "X" has one associated record in the custom object with a % value = 75%. If a user tries to add another record in this object for Account "X" with a % value > 25% they should receive an error.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You need to put it on the Parent object just use: Sum_of_Percentage_of_Rev__c >1.00  and you should be ready to Rock'n Roll
