Hi Rohit,

A slight correction to what has been posted above:

Short answer - yes they can and there is nothing you can do about it

Cases have an additional level of access called Implicit Sharing that you need to consider. It's Read Only but it's there

Hi Rohit/Sunil,   If the Account OWD has been set to Private and user Y owns the Case but has  no  access to the Account, he/she will not be able to access the Account. But it all depends on your org setup in terms of Roles/Hierarchies/Managers/Sharing setup, ... But basically, if user Y doesn't have access to the Account, then he/she will not be able to edit it from the Case.
