I'm very new to Salesforce and am the administrator for our Development department. The more I'm learning about my organization the more I know we can be using Salesforce.com for to help us out.
Currently, we are just recording donations when the $ actually arrives and we generate a thank you letter.
What we would like to do is to start building a pipeline of sponsor commitments as they come in, and then apply the $ as payments on those commitments when the $ comes in as well as just build a better overall picture of the relationship.
The more research I'm doing on this the more I think that we may have the wrong version of Salesforce.com to make this happen, it was installed in 2007 and I don't think much administrating was done before to ensure we had the right version for what we want to do. I tried looking around our version for 'Payments' and how to do 'Account Rollups' and couldn't find anything, unless I'm looking in the wrong place?
Is Nonprofitforce an older version of the NPSP?
I hope my question makes sense and thanks for any help!

Hi Kimberly, you are correct. Nonprofitforce (or the Nonprofit Template) pre-dated the NPSP. You will need to uninstall it to install the NPSP. Please keep in mind that this is not a very straightforward process, you can find more information about it here: http://wiki.developerforce.com/page/Nonprofit_Starter_Pack_Conversion
