We have a product object that lists all our sales solutions by 'family' or line of business, of which we have 4.
On the Opportunity, we currently do a look-up to the Product table which has over 100 solutions in these 4 LOBs, let's just say 25 in each.
I want to add a drop-down on the Opp that has the 4 LOBs listed and when the user gets to the look-up field, I want to narrow the search to return the 25 solutions for that LOB, and not return all 100. Since the LOB category is on the Product record, can this be done easily?

Unfortunately this can't be done out of the box, but you could definitely build something like this with Visualforce and Apex.
