Looking for best way to service internal customer

Newbi -- My group, Bus Dev Support, has internal customers (~50 Account Execs) and I need to build a simple system allowing them to submit requests for our services.  A ticketing/case system that will allow them to identify their need from 6 check boxes, a drop-down list with our 4 business lines, a description, and a field for them to enter urgency (L/M/H).  I like the e-mail-to-case, but not sure I want to turn on Case Mgmt. (whcih we don't use today).

 

I can build a custom object, then I can report on the entries and build work flows (the whole point) to route the request properly.

 

Does this sound like a good approach or is there a better way?  The e-mail from Outlook would be cool, but not sure where or how to start without using Case.  Comments?  Suggestions?

    Hey David,

     

    Thanks for the insight.  I really would like to use Case management and the reporting/routing capability -- Started looking at Record Type in that context. Not sure if I have the talent to make it happen, whereas creating the custom object was easy.  I'll keep playing in Sandbox, but please dont hesitate to pass along any other tips related to this approach.
