Outlook does not send you an email to remind you, it pops up a box to remind you. Salesforce supports this.
At the bottom of the Task page you can set yourself a Reminder. What this does is creates a popup at the given time on the given date you set the Reminder for (of course make sure you check the box next to it as well. However, if you have popups blocked, you wont get the Reminder.
